Time to celebrate! For the second year in a row, HawkSEM has been named a Clutch Global and Champion winner.

As the premier global platform for the best B2B service providers, Clutch announces its Global honorees and Clutch Champions annually.

What are the Clutch Global and Champion Awards?

As the premier global platform for the best B2B service providers, the Clutch Global and Champion Awards recognize businesses worldwide for their outstanding performance and customer satisfaction.

The awards set these businesses apart in their respective industries, based on verified client feedback, demonstrated expertise, and exceptional results.

Clutch 2024 awards

How winners are selected

Clutch Global Honorees are chosen based on industry expertise and client results. Clutch uses “ability to deliver” scores that are calculated based on feedback from thousands of reviews published on the platform.

Within the Global honorees, Clutch Champions are a select group who are recognized for remarkable performance and at least three recent verified reviews.

Why HawkSEM was selected

HawkSEM’s recognition as Clutch Global and Champion Award recipients is proof of our commitment to delivering exceptional digital marketing results and outstanding client satisfaction.

Our innovative strategies, measurable ROI-driven campaigns, and dedication to excellence paired with stellar client testimonials highlight HawkSEM’s ability to exceed expectations.

hawksem clutch double award win 2023

With the year winding down, we’ve been reflecting on all our team has accomplished this year and what goals we have for the year to come.

As detailed in a recent HawkTalk newsletter (you’re a subscriber, right?), we mentioned the importance of taking the time to celebrate wins, rather than always looking to tackle the Next Big Goal.

With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce HawkSEM’s recognition as a 2023 Global Award winner for digital marketing services on Clutch, the leading global marketplace of B2B service providers.

Selection process

Honorees are selected based on their industry expertise and ability to deliver. Scores are calculated based on the client feedback from thousands of reviews published on Clutch.

This award is a testament to the excellent client work we have delivered this year as recognized through the voice of our customers in their reviews on Clutch. We’re honored to be recognized as a digital marketing leader on a global scale.

But that’s not all…

Wait, wait — there’s more! In addition, we were awarded as a 2023 Clutch Champion. This is the company’s newest award given to the top 10% of Clutch Global winners. It’s a designation that recognizes business service providers across the world for their industry expertise and ability to deliver exceptional results compared to other companies in their line of service.

HawkSEM was included among the 2023 Fall Clutch Champions due to having acquired new, verified client reviews within the past six months. This award recognizes us as a top-rated leader in the digital marketing space based on our clients’ satisfaction and high-quality service ratings.

“We feel honored and humbled to not only have received this recognition but to have the most amazing clients,” says Sam Yadegar, CEO at HawkSEM. “We feel quite lucky and grateful.”

These achievements as a Clutch Champion and Global award winner come on the heels of our Quartz win as a top company for remote workers earlier this year, our second time snagging a spot on the coveted list.

“We are thrilled to showcase the incredible success of leading companies worldwide on our platform,” says Sonny Ganguly, CEO at Clutch.

HawkSEM Named One of Quartz’s Best Companies for Remote Workers 2023 https://hawksem.com/blog/hawksem-quartz-best-companies-for-remote-workers/ Thu, 26 Oct 2023 13:30:22 +0000 https://hawksem.com/?p=21628 We were beyond thrilled when we got word HawkSEM had been named by Quartz as one of its Best Companies for Remote Workers 2023.

The post HawkSEM Named One of Quartz’s Best Companies for Remote Workers 2023 appeared first on HawkSEM.

]]>
When it comes to remote work, we can admit we have a bit of an advantage.

After all, we’ve been a fully remote workplace since 2006. When the pandemic hit a few years back, we were lucky to already have the tools, infrastructure, and company culture to make working remotely as successful as possible — even amid virtual schooling and widespread shutdowns.

We’ve spent years putting forth our best efforts to keep our employees fulfilled, connected, and supported while working from home. So we were beyond thrilled when we got word HawkSEM had been named by Quartz as one of its Best Companies for Remote Workers 2023.

In partnership with Best Companies Group, “The annual list of Quartz’s Best Companies for Remote Workers was created by Quartz Magazine and Best Companies Group.

This global survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in remote work, benefiting the industry’s economy, workforce and businesses.”

In fact, this is our second year earning a spot on the list. We ranked 32nd in the medium category in 2022. This year, the small and medium categories were merged into the small category. HawkSEM improved in ranking this year to snag on the 28th spot on that list.

How it works

Each year, employees are invited to participate in a survey. This gauges their experiences as a remote worker and their perceptions of the remote workplace that their company has built. We are delighted to know that our efforts to foster a strong remote culture have not gone unnoticed by the team.

We’re proud to be able to offer our employees:

 • competitive benefits
 • health insurance
 • unlimited PTO
 • maternity and paternity leave
 • retirement matching
 • and more

We like to find opportunities to encourage our team to get to know one another, like with our Luna Park virtual game membership. We also emphasis caring for their mental health, which includes an annual wellness stipend.

Work-from-Home Essentials, According to Our Remote Team https://hawksem.com/blog/work-from-home-essentials/ Mon, 23 May 2022 17:19:35 +0000 https://hawksem.com/?p=11510 HawkSEM has been an all-remote team for years, so we've become well-versed in the best tools, tips, and tricks to make work-from-home life a success.

Set yourself and your home office up for success with these WFH products and best practices.

A recent study shows that nearly three-fourths of professionals expect remote work to become standard.

Here at HawkSEM, we’ve been an all-remote team since long before the pandemic.

Because of that, we’ve become well-versed in the best tools, tips, and tricks to make working from home a success.

From office must-haves to four-legged friends, these are the things the Hawk crew recommends for making work-from-home life work for you.

Tricked-out workspace upgrades

When it comes to WFH, productivity is all about your workspace.

Of course, some people live in smaller spaces and have no choice but to post up in the kitchen or at the dining room table. But if you can, create a designated work area that lets your brain know it’s time to take care of business.

Several of our team members rave about the benefits of upgrading your desk, whether that means investing in a convertible standing desk or a treadmill desk. For the latter, you can opt for an all-in-one variety or purchase a small under-desk treadmill on its own.

Didn’t jump on the Peloton train in the last few years? Then you may be delighted to know that “desk bikes” exist. You can get this contraption as a standalone seat or with an attached desk for a work-from-home setup that helps you stay active.

It’s a great way to keep your body in motion while working, and some even say being on the move helps foster creativity when brainstorming.

Pro tip: Need to jot something down during a video call or while sharing your screen? One of our Hawks recommends this desktop dry erase board with storage for taking quick notes.

Helpful tech support

There are a ton of benefits to working from home. But it’s also true that situations can crop up and compromise your plan for the day. That could be a sick kid, nearby construction, or a dog that makes sure to (loudly) alert you when the mail carrier stops by.

That’s why we’re so grateful for noise-canceling headphones. Personally, I’m partial to the over-ear variety vs. earbuds for maximum noise-shielding. Not only does this help on calls, but it’s a great way to block out distractions and focus on the tasks at hand.

While not a requirement, of course, most of our work-from-home Hawks swear by having a second monitor. Using multiple screens has a handful of advantages, including:

 • Helping to prevent too many opens tabs in one browser
 • The ability to multitask better
 • Being able to work on a project while monitoring the work Slack
 • The option to view and test pages on screens of various sizes

If you’ve spent enough time working on a small laptop, then you may have felt the effects of hunching over to type, see the screen, and use the trackpad. While it may seem small, adjusting to a wireless mouse and keyboard can allow your body to open up while working, helping you combat “the hunch.”

These days, there are a variety of bluetooth-enabled wireless keyboard and mouse options. An ergonomic keyboard can help prevent carpal tunnel, and quiet or silent mouses (side note: Is it still “mice” even if it’s for a computer?) prevent clicks from creating a distraction during virtual meetings.

If sitting for long meetings starts to get uncomfortable, one Hawk says an ergonomic foot rest can provide some relief. (Image: Unsplash)

Self-care comforts

When you work from home, it can be difficult to create a routine start and end to your day. Since your commute is often just a few feet, it’s easy for “off” and “on” hours to blend together.

But self-care is important — part of that lies in creating a routine around your workday. Another part is taking care of yourself, whether you’re on or off the clock.

Your back and neck will be thankful for a tiered laptop stand that brings your screen to eye level. Often, these also double as organizers, keeping your must-have items in arm’s reach.

If sitting for long meetings starts to get uncomfortable, one Hawk says an ergonomic foot rest can provide some relief.

Lastly, if you’re not the standing-desk type, our team members say it’s worth investing in a good chair that’ll keep you comfortable day after day. WIRED has a handy guide to a few office chairs that are worth looking into.

Pro tip: When offices close or move, they often get rid of their current furniture. If you find an office chair that speaks to you, it could be worth doing a quick search on local resale sites (like Nextdoor, letgo, or Facebook Marketplace) to see if you can score a secondhand deal.

Furry (or feathery, or scaly) colleagues

Funnily enough, when we posed the question of what work-from-home essentials our team swears by a few months back, the first thing that came up was pets.

It makes sense: From taking a few much-needed cuddle breaks to having a reason to go outside for a lunchtime stroll, pets can keep us calm and remind us to unglue from our desks every now and then.

The takeaway

Data shows that working remotely can have positive effects on a person’s mental health. At Hawk, we love being able to source marketing experts from around the country to become part of our team.

With a passion for what we do, good communication, and a few of the above items, our crew of work-from-home employees never fails to get the job done.

This month, Google recognized the achievements of top-performing digital marketing partners across the globe by awarding Premier Partner status as part of the new Google Partners program.

What’s more, HawkSEM is honored to be in the top 3% of Google Partners in the country.

What is the Google Partners program?

The Google Partners program has undergone significant changes for 2022.

These include redefining what it means to be a Premier Partner through new, advanced program requirements and offering new Premier Partner benefits to support growth and success with Google Ads.

What Google says about its partners program

“Congratulations to our Premier Partners for being among the top 3% of Google Partners in the U.S.,” said Davang Shah, Senior Director of Google Ads Marketing.

“These companies stand out based on their commitment to developing product expertise, building new client relationships, and helping their current clients grow. We look forward to supporting them as they help their customers succeed online.”

What our team has to say about this achievement

“Making it into the top 3% for the new Premier Google Partner program is a testament to our talented team here at HawkSEM,” said Jenny Palmer, our director of marketing operations.

“Their forward-thinking optimization strategies continue to drive huge wins for our clients, even as the landscape becomes more competitive!”

How Google chose HawkSEM as part of the Partners program

HawkSEM is part of a select group of Premier Partners in the Google Partners program. This program is designed for advertising agencies and third parties that manage Google Ads accounts on behalf of other brands or businesses.

Its mission is to empower companies. They do this by providing them with innovative tools, resources, and support to help their clients succeed and grow online.

The takeaway

We’re always striving to help our clients create their best possible marketing plans. And one of the ways we do that is through partnering with other organizations that offer us best-in-class resources. This way, we stay in the know about the latest and greatest industry developments.

With this partnership, we’re able to continue growing, while helping our customers do the same, so we can all reach and exceed our goals.

A look back at where the HawkSEM team has been, where we are, and where we’re headed.

Plenty has happened during 2021 here at HawkSEM. Though this year could accurately be classified as “chaotic” overall — thanks a lot, continuing pandemic! — our team stayed focused on goals, clients, and getting the job done.

From growing our team and expanding our client base to new initiatives and more, here’s a look back at all we achieved in 2021 — and a preview of what’s to come.

Seeing serious growth

Over the last 15 years of its existence, HawkSEM has gone through several phases of evolution. From 2020 to the end of 2021 alone, our team doubled in size, spanning nearly 30 different states across the U.S.

We added new employees, departments, and roles to our roster to help us better serve a wide range of clients while ensuring our team members have manageable workloads that allow for a healthy life-work balance.

Charting new territory

Speaking of departments, in 2021, the Hawk team added a new Client Success team.

Already, we’ve seen this department do wonders to shrink our client churn, and we’re beyond excited for all the ways the CS team will continue fostering great relationships between our digital marketing pros and clients.

Making team member happiness a priority

We’ve mentioned before all of the ways that remote work can boost mental health. And while that’s true, it can be difficult to bond with your team members in the same way you would IRL when you’re scattered across various states and time zones.

In the spirit of prioritizing our team members’ happiness, we’ve found ways to keep each person at Hawk’s happiness top of mind.

Earlier this year, we were thrilled to expand our benefit offerings, and we’ve worked to make sure fun is part of day-to-day life, from swapping silly GIFs on Slack to planning virtual happy hours and even hosting an online gift exchange during the holidays.

Not only that, but we recently brought on our first People & Culture manager, who will help us continue to come up with even more creative ways to stay connected.

year in review call team photo 2021

Our best attempt at a team photo from our all-team meeting in December 2021.

Revisiting our client personas

We regularly preach to our clients about making sure they’re targeting the right client base, and we like to take our own advice!

As part of our Year in Review all-hands meeting, we discussed our client personas, how they might have shifted from years past, and who we want to work with in the future.

More so than focusing on industry or size, we talked about the traits that often yield the most successful client relationship for us.

Namely, we’ve found that good communication, realistic expectations, and being synced on goals are all things that often bode well for us when it comes to new clients we’re partnering with.

Launching an internal education program

All in all, the HawkSEM team has more than 300 years of combined marketing experience across nearly every digital marketing category. Yes, you read that right!

With that in mind, we wanted to come up with ways to put all this knowledge to good use — outside of getting great results for our clients, of course.

That’s why we created Hawk Academy, an internal education program that’ll allow our team members to continue expanding their skillset and learning from one another. We’re excited to launch this program in 2022.

The takeaway

It would be impossible not to be excited about the significant growth we’ve seen here at HawkSEM over the past few years.

But, even as we continue to grow and evolve, we will keep our mission in mind all the while: to delight our clients, support our teammates, share innovative marketing ideas, and lead with optimism, all in the name of achieving greatness together.

How Remote Work Can Boost Mental Health https://hawksem.com/blog/remote-work-and-mental-health/ Mon, 20 Sep 2021 14:30:39 +0000 https://hawksem.com/?p=9547 It’s important for companies to be mindful of their employees’ mental health. Here's how remote work fosters happier people and more productive teams.

The post How Remote Work Can Boost Mental Health appeared first on HawkSEM.

]]>
Now more than ever, it’s important for companies to take their employees’ mental health seriously.

Here, you’ll find:

 • How mental health affects employees
 • The connection between mental health and telework
 • Quotes from remote HawkSEM team members
 • Tips to help employees succeed remotely

It doesn’t take much Googling to find plenty of evidence that shows remote work — also called telework — can benefit employees’ mental health. (That’s good news for us here at HawkSEM, since we’ve been an all-remote team for years.)

Working at home can feel isolating, sure, but it doesn’t have to be. When companies are thoughtful about fostering team connection, keeping communication open, and having expectations clearly stated, it turns out remote teams can not only survive, but cause a company to thrive.

Here are just a few ways remote jobs help nurture employees’ mental health.

It’s no secret that employees who feel like they can properly manage their work and home life are happier employees. (Image via Pexels)

Better life-work balance

Work-life balance and commute-related stress are two of the top factors that make people want a job with flexible options. That’s according to a Mental Health America survey conducted with FlexJobs.

It’s no secret that employees who feel like they can properly manage their work and home life are happier employees. And happier employees tend to stick around, meaning less turnover and a more bonded team.

“I can balance my life more freely without having to worry about losing hours and hours of my life commuting,” says Jordan Fultz, one of Hawk’s SEM managers. “I can easily adjust my schedule to accommodate clients without sacrificing time with my family.”

Fewer distractions

Anyone who’s recently worked in an office can tell you it’s often rife with distractions. Particularly at tech companies and startups, expect barking dogs, ping-pong games, and other “perks” that can sometimes keep tasks from being accomplished.

Telework may also come with its own interruptions (dogs bark at home too, of course). But few would argue that there are just as many attention-span killers as in-office life provides. Rather, employees are more able to craft the unique type of work environment they can thrive in, whether at home or on a coffeeshop patio.

Increased flexibility and autonomy

We love to talk about working smarter instead of harder. Remote work allows you to be more flexible with how you spend your time and work on your projects. Maybe you do your best work at 6 a.m. or 6 p.m. While your job may have specific hours, there’s often room to carve out a schedule that works for you.

“Remote work gives workers more flexibility in their daily schedules,” explains Matt Smith, an SEO and SEM manager here at Hawk. “This helps them get more done in a given day.”

Not only that, but it’s pretty hard to micromanage someone virtually. Telework offers a level of autonomy. Employees can be given the time and space needed to complete tasks and brainstorm new ideas.

A more equal playing field

Some office environments tend to favor a certain type of employee. Maybe it’s the one who always raises their hand in meetings (but generally has trouble letting others talk), knows the CEO from college, or is always staying late and burning the proverbial midnight oil.

The reality is, the best team is a diverse team. That means some people who are more introverted, need to think for a bit before they offer up their thoughts, and who can’t always work late into the evening because of family or other obligations.

Remote work is set up in such a way that all of these employee types can grow and succeed.

Less emphasis on appearance and “presenteeism” (which Investopedia defines as the lost productivity that occurs when employees are not fully functioning in the workplace) means more emphasis on what matters: how well they perform their job and the attitude they bring with them each day when they log on.

"mental health" spelled out in block letters next to a green stem with leaves

It’s important to make sure your employees have the space and time to care for themselves, rather than racing towards burnout. (Image via Unsplash)

Managed predictability

When the pandemic first shut down businesses across the globe, I felt extra fortunate that, as a fully-teleworking employee, I was already set up and living the work-from-home life.

Now, as workplaces attempt to return to various degrees of hybrid and in-office plans, knowing my situation won’t be changing helps me focus more on my tasks at hand, instead of constantly trying to manage my risk level as it relates to work.

Nina Breece, one of our SEM managers, agrees. “Amidst the pandemic, many people have had the constant stress of [wondering] when or if they will return to the office again,” she says. “As a fully remote company, we haven’t had to worry about being sent back to an office before we are comfortable.”

Maximized productivity

Some higher ups who haven’t experienced managing a remote team may be concerned about productivity. But the data is clear. An Owl Labs survey found that 79% of respondents said teleworking had “increased their productivity and focus.”

Forbes reports on a two-year study from the University of Stanford’s Professor Nicholas Bloom, which found that “employees working from home actually accomplished more of a ‘true’ full shift each day, as they didn’t use up time getting ready, commuting, leaving the office multiple times, or being late.”

Goals are goals, and KPIs are KPIs. Whether in-office or remote, there are plenty of ways to monitor progress, analyze statistics, and track accomplishments accordingly. As long as proper communication is established, you should feel just as in the loop on how a teleworking employee is performing in their job.

The takeaway

The stress and unpredictability of the pandemic has thrown people for a loop, to say the least. That’s why it’s especially important to keep mental health in mind. Whether in office or remote, the most effective team leaders and managers make sure employees have the space and time to care for themselves, rather than racing towards burnout.
